Dr Tim Sweeney

Postgraduate Diploma (Cognitive Therapy), BSc (Hons), Specialist Practitioner - Mental Health, BA (Hons), Diploma in Nursing – Mental Health

Tim SweeneyTim has been working in the National Health Service with people experiencing a range of emotional and mental health problems since 1995.

He is a graduate of Oxford University's 'Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Therapy' and is employed at the Nottingham Psychotherapy Unit as an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist. He also works as the clinical lead for Nottinghamshire Healthcare Trust's Centre for Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, and is an associate teacher/trainer for the University of Oxford's Mindfulness Centre.

Tim has consequently worked extensively using a Cognitive model in the treatment of:

  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
  • Adjustment Disorders
  • Agoraphobia and other Phobias

Tim has a PhD from the University of Nottingham and is involved in several Mindfulness and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy research projects focusing on depression and anxiety.

Amanda Farr

Amanda FarrAmanda is a Clinical Lead and on the senior management team of the Nottinghamshire City and County NHS Adult Psychological Therapies Service. She is an experienced therapist, clinical supervisor and trainer having first trained in the area of cognitive behavioural therapy in 1990. She is also trained in Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR).

Prior to her current role she worked at Nottingham University Hospital building a speciality in treating anxiety and depression related to long term medical conditions. She was also a visiting therapist at the Priory Hospital Nottingham.

She has an MSc in Advanced Cognitive Therapy Skills from the University of Oxford and has been a visiting lecturer at Oxford Cognitive Therapy Centre. She has also supervised on the University of Nottingham's post graduate diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

Previously she has been Chair of Nottinghamshire MIND and a fundraiser for Mental Health Research UK and the Institute of Mental health at Nottingham University. She is a Deputy Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire.
